Elementary language acquisition and introductions to German literature, film, history, music and contemporary politics in an intercultural context. To be taken in numerical sequence. Course may be offered in classroom-based, online, or hybrid format. 4 lectures. Formerly offered as part of the GER 101, 102, 103 series, students may not earn credit for both GER 101 and GER 1101.
GER 1102 Elementary German Language and Culture II (4 units)

Elementary through low intermediate language acquisition and introductions to German literature, film, history, music and contemporary politics in an intercultural context. To be taken in numerical sequence. Course may be offered in classroom-based, online, or hybrid format. 4 lectures. Formerly offered as part of the GER 101, 102, 103 series, students may not earn credit for both GER 103 and GER 1102.
GER 2201 Intermediate German Language and Culture (4 units)

Development of presentational, interpersonal, and interpretive language skills in German at the mid-intermediate level within an intercultural context. Intercultural contexts may include literature, film, history, music and/or contemporary politics. To be taken in numerical sequence. Intellectual, social, and aesthetic developments in the history of German-language cultures. Works include memoirs and diaries, short novels and poetry, journalistic prose and essays, visual art and photography, music, dance and film. Readings and discussions in German.
