DAT 1108 Foundations of Data Science (3 units)
Term Typically Offered: TBD
Prerequisite: MTH 107 or MTH 1107. Concurrent: DAT 108 or DAT 1108L.

Offered at Solano Campus. Introduction to inferential and computational thinking in the context of real-world applications. Topics include data types, basic concepts of computational programming, sequences, tables, functions, data visualization, causality, randomness, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing, prediction, and inference for regression. Python will be used extensively. 3 lectures. Formerly DAT 108 at Cal Maritime.
DAT 1108L Foundations of Data Science Laboratory (1 unit)
Term Typically Offered: TBD
Prerequisite: MTH 107 or MTH 1107. Concurrent: DAT 108 or DAT 1108.

Offered at Solano Campus. Application of the principles using computational Python activities related to inferential and computational thinking, with an emphasis on real-world applications and data. Formerly DAT 108L at Cal Maritime.
DAT 3308 Principles and Techniques of Data Science (3 units)
Term Typically Offered: TBD
Prerequisite: DAT 108 or DAT 1108; MTH 250 or MTH 2250; and MTH 320 or MTH 3320.

Offered at Solano Campus. Exploration of the data science lifecycle, including the querying and analysis of data, and algorithms for machine learning methods including linear regression, logistic regression, classification, and clustering. Computational implementation of mathematical and statistical ideas is heavily emphasized. Formerly DAT 308 at Cal Maritime.
