The Industrial Technology Minor introduces a remarkable interdisciplinary curriculum tailored for students who are not majoring in Industrial Technology and Packaging but are intrigued by the diverse career possibilities within the industrial technology sector.
By embracing this program, students can delve into three distinct cores: product development, supply chain management, and process improvement. Within these cores, students will engage with a spectrum of courses covering technology, product design, manufacturing, lean thinking, quality control, business management, operations management, and supply chain management. These courses collectively give students supplementary knowledge and skills essential for securing roles within industrial technology-oriented companies.
Program Learning Objectives
- Apply knowledge and skills to identify opportunities and solve problems related to product development and supply chain and operations management.
 - Use appropriate methods and current technology to analyze data and drive decisions related to product development and supply chain and operations management.
 - Evaluate the implications of business, design, science, and technology decisions on diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
 - Recognize the ethical consequences of business, design, science, and technology decisions.
 - Apply sustainability principles to product development and supply chain and operations management.
 
Minor Requirements and Curriculum
- At least half of the units must be from upper-division courses (3000-4000 level).
 - At least half of the units must be taken at Cal Poly (in residence).
 - No more than one-third of the units will be taken with credit-no credit grading (CR/NC), not counting courses with mandatory CR/NC. Departments may further limit CR/NC grading if desired.
 - A minimum 2.0 GPA is required in all units counted for completion of the minor.
