AERO 470 Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics (4) Effective Fall 2008
Applying computational fluid dynamics to study wide range of fluid dynamics problems as they relate to aerospace engineering. Topics include grid generation, sources of errors in computational fluid dynamics studies, applying boundary conditions, 2D and 3D external flows and other related subjects. Fundamentals of propeller and jet aircraft performance. Steady and accelerated flight. Equations of motion. Level flight. Gliding, climbing, driftdown. Takeoff and landing. FAR requirements. ART 470 Cross-Cultural Visual Narratives (4) Effective Summer 2008
The ability to analyze, understand and design a narrative in relation to a specific culture through images captured abroad and one quarter of study. Field trip abroad to Italy. Outcome of class: an art exhibit and a visual narrative in the book or multimedia format. Daily interactions with past and present Italian culture, art and narrative as focus for coursework. In-depth observation, analysis and creative thinking encouraged and stimulated by unique qualities of place. Focus on relationships of people and culture with the surrounding natural and manmade landscapes. 4 lectures. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor.

An examination of the book as art object. Instruction in traditional and non-traditional book binding and construction techniques. Consideration of key critical, historical, and aesthetic issues in art production since the 1960s. Instruction and practice using Autodesk Civil 3D to complete civil engineering esigns. Design topics include site coordination, basic road design, grading, and utility design. Transportation safety problem worldwide and in USA; factors associated with traffic safety: human factors, roadway design, vehicle factors; transportation planning and safety; addressing the vulnerable groups and their needs; crash data collection and management; statistical analysis of crash data; before-after studies; identification of crash hotspots. 3 lectures. Advanced business students work in a team to integrate and apply theories of their various business courses by participating in an international competition that requires them to research an ethical business dilemma, and then prepare a written and oral presentation which explains the legal, financial and ethical dimensions of the problem and a course of action recommendation that integrates both business and ethical theories. 4 lectures. Prerequisite: OCOB graduate standing or approval from the OCOB Associate Dean of Graduate Programs.
GSB 570 Business Management Simulation Competition (4) Effective Winter 2009
Advanced business students integrate and apply the theories of their various business courses by becoming strategic managers of simulated companies competing against other business students in a simulated environment which incorporates the economies of two countries, and requires consideration of global and domestic strategy. Developing analytical and general management decision-making skills as a member of a team competing in an international business management simulation competition.
